Scouts and Scouters from throughout the Pioneer District, as well as several others from surrounding districts, enjoyed a weekend of beautiful weather at Camp Tuckahoe the weekend of April 26-18, 2013 for a space-themed spring camporee.
Participants from all levels of Scouting were able to experience things like robot building, a remote controlled robot obstacle course, hands-on telescope instruction, team-building skills,m and the highlight of the day, model rocket building and launching! Over 125 rockets were flown throughout the day, thanks to “Tiny” Haag and his expert rocket team.
Saturday night concluded with a fantastic campfire, lead by Senior Patrol Leader Tyler Ball and Venture Crew 171. During the campfire, the district activities committee co-chairs, Donna Baum and Barb Guise were presented the prestigious District Award of Merit. The look on their faces was priceless, as it was a huge surprise. Congratulations to them both for this recognition of their service t our district and Scouting.
